What's with all the negative reviews? ....

I have a 4 year old Series 7 and got a new head a couple days ago and it seems great. Been meaning to replace the head for awhile but kept forgetting. Then I saw it on sale at a Best Buy store and got it. Must admit I change off here and there with a blade. Now I'll be using the Braun more often. Bob

Inferior quality replacement head

I bought Braun 7893s last year. It worked perfectly until the head reached its end of life and needed to be replaced. I ordered a new replacement head from Amazon and after the first use, I noticed the difference between the original head came with the shaver and the one I bought as the replacement. The original head was shaving perfectly without having to repeat specific spots under the chin and the edges. With the new head, I have to use the manual shavers to complete the shaving process. The new head does not shave as detailed and smooth as the original one. I wonder why Braun produces low-quality replacement heads. Is it to encourage new customers to buy new models rather stick to their current model. If that is the case, customers might be considering switching to other brands.

We do want to share that how long a foil lasts and performs does depend on your shaving method, beard type and how well and often you clean your shaver. For the best results, we suggest always using light pressure when shaving. Pressing too hard can actually shorten the lifetime and cause damage to the foil. Be sure to hold your shaver at a 90 degree angle along with applying a drop of light machine oil to it. This will help the blades glide much smoother across your skin. Poor quality replacement heads

I was initially very happy with this razor and the ease of cleaning with the cleaning/charging station. After approx 6 months the initial head developed a hole in it. I installed the spare head and and closeness of the shave is nothing like the original. I continued to use it but it just doesn't cut at all. I went on your web site to order a new head but after reading all the reviews regarding the poor quality, i dont think that would be a smart move. It looks like i will need to go back to the Norelco.

You should always be able to count on us for a great shave, Freddy. We do want to share with you that our foils should typically last about 18 months. This does depend on your shaving method, beard type and how well and often you clean your shaver. To prevent damaging your foil, we recommend always using light pressure when shaving. Bad replacement head

Not happy with the replacement head - works noticeabley worse than my original one, which doesn't make sense since that one had been used quite a while. Did I just get a bad batch or something?

Great shaver, poor refill quality

I bought my husband the Series 7 shaver years ago and he loved it until we had to replace the razor. The replacements are horrible! They will either pop out (and yes, we bought the correct refill) or they don’t shave as close as the original razor cartridge that came with it. I often hear him swearing at it. He now shaves less because he does want to deal with it, but won’t break down and purchase a different one. I’m not a fan of beards. I’ll be looking for a different brand for His Christmas gift this year.

In the meantime, we suggest oiling it with a drop of light machine oil to really soften the blades so shaving is much easier. This will also help prolong the life of the replacement head as well. This is a follow up to my previous review. Braun responded to my complaint with a number to call in. I called them and they handled the matter with complete professionalism. They repeatedly apologized and said that they would send me a replacement razor head. When I received it, it was of the quality that I expected and have always experienced before the last faulty ones. They explained that it's possible that a faulty one or two can slip through but if it ever happens again to call them and they will handle the matter. The Series 7 is a great product and I would still recommend it!

Wow Scared to Buy Braun Based On Reviews.

I was planning to purchase a Series 7 today however after looking at the replacement head issues associated with the reviews on this web site it might be in my best interest to stay with Norelco. What a shame looks like a nice razor. There are too many of the same comments of it not to be a real issue.

Poor quality replacement heads

I have tried two replacement heads in the past three months that are terrible. The razor now barely shaves and feels like it's pulling my hair out. It takes 4 times longer to shave my face. I'm not getting a clean, close shave like I was with the original razor purchased a few years ago and previous replacement heads. I used a new replacement in October that was bad, figured maybe it was a one time thing and bought another new one that is also terrible. What a waste of money. The quality of the replacement blades has gone bad - my experience is the same as the other reviewers. I clean my shaver daily and with solution once a week.

Worked Great for me!

I have to write that I do not understand all the negative reviews regarding the Series 7 Replacement Head. The new Replacement Head worked GREAT for me; brought my shaver back to smooth, like-new performance. It made a huge difference, and the quality of the Head is identical to the one when the shaver was new. I agree that the price is expensive (thus my low "value" score), but it did completely bring back the original smooth and close-shave like new. So for me, I recommend the replacement head.

Poor quality on day one

I wish I'd read the many other reviews before discarding my original foil. It fell into the (clean) toilet and rather than let it dry I discarded it since it was at almost 18 months and I had a replacement on hand. I've now used the replacement twice and the difference is stark. The shave is nowhere near as close, it took significantly longer to shave, and the neck in particular was very difficult to complete. I'm a loyal 20+ year Braun user but like others I'm now reconsidering since there seems to be no recognition on Braun's part that there's an issue. I shouldn't need to clean and apply light oil to a brand new replacement foil. These shavers aren't cheap by a long shot and I can't be buying a new one every 18 months.
