The original foil head lasted about a year, however the replacement one's are lasting on average 2 months. Enough is enough and I'm switching brands. Unfortunate....Braun used to symbolize quality. That couldn't be further from the truth with this product.
No, I do not recommend this product.
You should be getting up to 18 months of a great shave with a new foil, so we're very sorry to hear about this. The longevity of your blades does depend on your shaving method, beard type and how well and often you clean your shaver. Applying a drop of light machine oil to it will help it last even longer. So we can prove why you've been able to count on us in the past, please give us a call at (800) 272-8611.
Been a braun electric shaver for over 20 years. The series 9 shaver work great for 18 months. I replaced the blades and after 1 month the middle blades pop up out of the casement. Thought it could of been me i bought another blade replacement. Same thing after 1 week. Spending over 100 dollars for the blades I now am going to look at other razors not by braun.

We're looking forward to getting you back to the quality you've come to know and trust from us.
I purchased my Braun Electric Shaver, Series 9 9290 cc in September 2017. My experience with the shaver heads is they last an average of 3.5 months before they begin to break up and fall to pieces. Meaning that one section of the head literally separates and falls to the floor and cannot be reinstalled. Sometimes after one breaks off another one will soon separate as well rendering the shaver unusable. While I can use it carefully with one piece out for a while, its iffy if it will last until a replacement comes in the post. I am now purchasing my 5th head. I have yet to have one last long enough to wear out. As the costs are high and replacement heads are needed too frequently this is the most exorbitantly expensive shaver I have ever purchased. My previous Braun razors was great. I have no complaints about them. I should go back to my last one as it continues to perform well and is predictable. This performance is unacceptable and I am a dissatisfied customer. The initial purchase price is high but I was OK with that. The razor is not a good value for the initial expense at any price considering the frequent maintenance and replacement heads needed. The first time I figured it was just a one-off. Then again, and now again this is a pattern, not a one-off. As a result, never again will I purchase a Braun.
You should be getting anywhere from 12-18 months of shaving with a new foil, so we're very sorry to hear this has been a frequent issue. We do want to share that using light pressure when shaving and holding your shaver at a 90 degree angle can help ensure the longevity of a new foil. Pressing too hard can shorten the lifetime and cause damage to the foil. If you have a thicker beard, you may be shaving longer each day which can reduce the lifetime of the foil. Cleaning your shaver after every use can also help, along with oiling it with light machine oil. This will help the blades glide more smoothly across your face. Lastly, since your shaver is pretty versatile, our 92B Foil & Cutter is also compatible with your model, which may be something you'd be interested in trying. Because loyalty means everything to us, we'd like to make this right and get you back to the Braun experience you've been able to count on in the past. When you find a chance, could you please give us a call at (800) 272-8611?
Yes, variable due to beard type and method. One review even stated that and received a standard reply that still pointed out these possible variables. Bottom line - the razor heads need to have a shorter lasting time stated and your replacement heads need to be better. Each person here realizes that the 18 months can be a variable, but the difference should not be that great. With all of that in mind, your price should go down or the product get better. I purchased the top one for my husband and he doesn't shave everyday, due to age, and it's been about 12 months and I am on this site to purchase new cutters. I was going to buy one for my son as well, now that's a maybe. The replacement heads are expensive, especially if they aren't going to last at least a year. My husband likes a very close shave and has always used razors, but, is decently surprised at how well this razor does the first 11 months.
Yes, I recommend this product !
The original blades that came with my shaver lasted 15 months. I considered this to be excellent. Even though Braun claims the blades will last 18 months I knew this would not be true for most users so I was very happy that mine lasted 15 months. The first set of replacement blades I bought only lasted around 7 months. The second set were noticeably not sharp out of the package and last about six weeks. Thinking that maybe I just got a bad replacement blade I order a third set. While the third set is sharper than the second set, it is not as sharp as the original blade. It does not shave anywhere near as close as the original blade. There are also instances when I can feel the blade pulling at the hairs. I have not changed the way I shave and I clean the razor after each shave using the cleaning station. The quality of the replacement blades are unacceptable.
We'd hope for a clean and comfortable shave every time, Jim, so we're sorry to hear you're not getting the same shave as you did in the beginning with us. We do want to let you know that a shaver foil & cutter should typically last about 18 months, however, this depends on your shaving method, beard type and how well and often you clean your shaver. To ensure the longevity of your device, we recommend cleaning it regularly along with oiling it with light machine oil from time to time. Also, using light pressure when shaving along with always holding it at a 90 degree angle will give you the best results as well. If you have any other questions, comments or concerns, we're here to help! Simply, give us a call at (800) 272-8611.
This is an excellent razor with an impressive usable life span but the initial cost as well as the cost of replacing the cutting head and the cost of the cleaning cartridges cannot be justified.
This should be not 18 months for replacing the head, rather it should be a year-and-a-half....on Mercury! I consider this false advertising as the original did not last one year and the replacement went just over one earth year. Considering how much I paid for this Series 9 and that the replacement head doesn't last 18 months, I think I was simply bamboozled.
We can certainly understand your frustration and we're here to help you get the most out of your foil and cutterblock. We do want to share with you that a Braun shaver foil and cutter should last up to 18 months, depending on your shaving method, beard type and how well and often you clean your device.
