I love this product , works amazing , i most definitely recommend for everyone to use
Yes, I recommend this product !
Well... I was very excited to try the BRAUN Silk epil 9. I first used the device on my dry legs and experienced a high amount of pain!!! So decided to try it in the bath tub and try the wet version as recommended by other bzzagents. I still had tons of pain!!! Now I have 4 tattoos and 3 children so pain is not usually a problem. But I would compare this to trying give yourself a tattoo and sit still, HAHAHAH. Needless to say, I couldn't finish my entire leg. Kudos to the ladies who can do that on their bikini area. I am not one of you. Is it effective? Yes! It ripped the hair right out of my leg. You bet it's effective. Please forgive me for all cussing I did during the testing of my free product. My opinion is my own. I wish this would have worked for me. I ended up bleeding and with large raised bumps. Thank you for allowing me to test this product. Smooth as a babyâs butt?
Well, not exactly. But letâs start at the beginning. I was thrilled to know that I was going to have the chance to review the Braun Silk-epil 9. Of course, having never used an epilator before, I had no idea what I was in for.
When the box came, I ripped it open and was really really surprised to see how nice it was. Not at all what I expected. It had so many different attachments, including an exfoliating brush. I couldnât wait to try it out.
So I read the instructions, put the proper epilating attachment on, and touched it to my arm, just to test it out. Holy light socket, Batman. I thought I was being electrocuted. After I got over the initial shock, (pun intended) I decided to try it again. And donât you know, after a few seconds of getting used to have the hair ripped from my body, it really wasnât that bad.
I decided to do part of one leg that night. OK. That section did come out pretty smooth. Not too bad at all. So the next night I decided to do the whole leg. And in all honesty, after a few moments, I really didnât feel it too much at all. So I went ahead and did both complete legs. And I didnât even mind it all. The next morning I noticed I had missed a couple of spots so I tried it in the shower. It worked just as well in there. No problems at all.
Now here we are, 3 weeks later, and the hair has barely grown back at all yet. Iâve had to do a few minor touch ups since then. Probably just stray hairs that decided to randomly pop up. I love the fact that I can just sit in front of the tv and watch a show and touch up my legs and be on my way. And I LOVE the fact that they have stayed relatively smooth since the first time I used it.
So, are they as smooth as a babyâs butt? Not exactly, but I gotta say...I LOVE my new Braun Silk-epil 9. I canât imagine ever going back to shaving every day again. If only I could get brave enough to do my armpits. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Epilators are my preferred method for economical, easy, and lasting hair removal. Unfortunately since Iâm pinching pennies, I never replaced the one that I had that broke years ago, so you can imagine how excited I was to get the Braun Silk-épil 9. It didnât disappoint. Personally I didnât find it painful to use at all, but that is most likely because Iâm used to epilation, waxing and threading as hair removal methods. I was able to dive right in and use speed II (the âefficientâ option) without any problems. For those who are new to epilating or find the process painful this comes with both a slower speed and massaging cap to help ease the pain. You can also use it in the shower which may help with the pain as well. As with all epilators though, it does leave some redness after usage so plan accordingly.
You can use the exfoliating brush to prep your skin beforehand and the wide head allows it to cover more area so that hair removal is fairly quick. I did have to go over some areas more than once as sometimes it didnât catch all the finer hairs. Also, I do feel like for some of the finer or longer hairs, it breaks it rather than removing it at the root, which can lead to some unwanted bristly feeling regrowth. However, that is easily taken care of a few days later with another pass of the epilator. It also comes with a facial cap you can use for precise facial epilation (or if you just want to target a smaller area in general).
I love that this is waterproof mainly because it makes clean up so much easier. No matter how much I brush, there always seems to be some hairs still caught in the tweezing mechanism, now I can just rinse away. The downside of this is that it canât be used while charging for safety reasons.
I was disappointed that the exfoliating brush canât be used on the face. I wish they made a facial brush so this would truly be an all-in-one tool. I didnât find the light particularly helpful as I normally epilate in a well-lit area, and sometimes I would accidentally look directly into the light. I also found the dial control a little strange at first but quickly got the hang of it. Finally, I wish the bag used a material that was a bit stiffer and thicker. While the interchangeable caps arenât flimsy, I do worry they could be cracked by accident.
As the cons are more quirks that I have with it and may not bother the average user, I would definitely recommend this for someone who is looking for an epilator. Itâs easy to use and clean, is adaptable for hair removal on all parts of your body, and comes with an exfoliating attachment so it really is a like a little skin spa. At first I was a little concerned about using this epilator. I have used one before and I ended up with tons of ingrown hairs. After all the ingrown hairs I tossed the old epilator in the trash. This Braun Silk epil 9 ended up being one of the best hair removal products I have ever used. I ended up with no ingrown hairs which completely shocked me. I figured even if an epilator was excellent it should at least cause a few. I have to say, I haven't seen a single one. I get at least a couple even with normal razor shaving.
On to the big question that everyone has about epilating - Does it hurt? It does pinch a little bit, I'm not going to lie. I have some advice for using it the first few times. Take your time. Don't try to rush the process. The suggested instructions say to use the "skin contact cap" and the lower power setting when you are just starting out. I found using the "high frequency massage cap" and the higher power setting to be more comfortable. This is definitely a your mileage will vary situation. I have used the epilator several times since I got it. I have used it once in the shower and the other times I have used it dry. The shower was nice because it made it more comfortable. Unfortunately it almost made it not grab as many of those tiny little blond hairs I have so many of. It grabbed the darker ones great in the shower. The other nice thing of being able to put this into water is being able to rinse the head off. Another good thing to do when you are just starting out is to use it in small areas at first, then give yourself a little time. Then pick it up and use it on the next area. Once you have used this and removed the hair the first time the succeeding uses will be much less painful. Hair growth goes in cycles so you will never have near as much to remove as you do that first time. Don't let that first time usage discourage you from using it. You will seriously get used to using it.
One downside that comes with any epilator or really any hair removal device. Removing those little blond hairs are a little harder to do. The upper thigh area, at least for me, is the worst. I had no idea that the hair that doesn't seem to grown in any logical direction. That made it a little harder for it grab. I just had to turn the head around to get the thin little hairs. Honestly, they are really hard to see normally, I think I just saw them more because of the light on the epilator. Which speaking of, that thing is kind of cool to have. You can see the hairs that are trying to hide from you.
I have just started to use it in the bikini area and that definitely stings a little more than just the legs. However, it is not unbearable. I definitely would not use it beyond just the bikini line. I have used it a couple times on my stray hairs around my chin and upper lip. It is just about like waxing.
Overall, I have to give this thing a total thumbs up! My legs have never felt smoother and I won't have to worry about shaving as often as I used to. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have used many Epilators and had given up on them, mainly because of ingrown hair and bumpy skin. I've been waxing the last couple of years and loved the results but hated the messy process.
When I got the Braun epilator, I immediately used it on my arms and legs. I loved how it pulled out the hair from the roots in one go. I also felt that the whole process for me at least was quite painless, compared to my old epilator. After I was done, I did notice tiny red rash on my arms and legs, which subsided after a few minutes. I never thought I could get smooth, soft skin with an epilator.
I didn't have that much luck with peach fuzz with this epilator. I will give it a second try and see if it works on it or not. Overall I'm very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to others and I myself would use it, instead of waxing. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I have use facial epilators in the past but I was more than ecstatic to try out a body epilator. My first experience with this epilator was great but it also helped that I was familiar with it and I expected the pain! Those of you that have not used an epilator, IT HURTS!!! But the results are worth the pain! After I charged it for a couple hours, I used it dry before a shower. It took me about an hour to do both my legs because I kept stopping to give myself a break from the pain, but it got most of the hairs. I think after getting use to it I can bring my time down to half. It was easy to use and the light on the front is actually very useful to spot hairs you might have missed. Also, its very easy to clean with it's little brush to clean the product out with. Sadly since it's flat and not curved head, it was hard to grab certain hairs on top of my lower leg.
However, overall this is a great product. I have shaved all my life. However, with this epilator, it has almost been two weeks since I first used it and my hair is just starting to spike back, and it is very fine and barely noticeable.
I am very satisfied with this product and would recommend it really, for anyone! Whether or not you have used an epilator, this product is a solid buy and I LOVE the attached exfoilationg head on the rest of my body in the shower. It has done wonders to my skin and I end up using a ton less lotion!
Easy to use
Hair-free for longer than shaving
No clean-up involved
great additions in the kit
Hurts (but that's expected of an epilator)
Does not grab all hairs
Hard to use on legs [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Despite its modern torture device appearance, I haven't yet succumbed to the Braun Silk-épil 9's (omg what a pretentious, long, complicated name) mortal wishes. It's an epilator - of course it's gonna hurt! I knew what I was getting into, so no stars are lost for discomfort.
The device itself looks ugly and boring (and evil) - except for the glitter handle which could have been a nicer, friendlier, less-stark color than white. Honestly, why couldn't it be a pretty pink or purple glitter color I can look at while yelping in pain with each pass up my legs? Oh well, no stars lost for ugliness, either.
The cascade of different heads and accessories that tumbled out and spread all over my kitchen floor are cool, though. I love when devices come with so many add-ons, even though I know that 92% of the time I'll only ever be using the default one. It makes me feel like I'm getting more for my money and that's always the best way to trick customers out of buyer's remorse - there's too many parts to take back with it, might as well keep it.
The guiding light it offers is pretty great...or it WOULD be pretty great except that my legs are so far away from my face that I doubt anything less than a flood light is going to help me see my (fair-complexion) leg hairs. I suppose I shouldn't complain about that, though, so I'll not. It was certainly a nice gesture on their part at least. And some light is definitely better than none.
It's 2015 - why am I plugging this device in? Why doesn't it have a fancy, minimalist wireless charging stand like the rest of my electronics? In fact, the plug is so enormous and cumbersome that I have to charge it in my BEDROOM, I can't even fit it in my bathroom - plus, cords everywhere already. THAT'S why it loses a star. I need a sleek charging base that plays nicely with all my other bathroom electronics, not this plug. Not ever. Kill it with fire! Ugh!!!
In the end, my legs are smooth - well, at least the parts I've done so far as my pain tolerance only allows me to do 2 passes before I need a break - but again, that's not the fault of the device. My thighs are actually the best! This device works! It's NOT pretty and it's not sleek, but it works well! All you need is some 0.5 - 1mm long hairs and a good, stiff drink and you're ready to go! This thing has all the other stuff you need! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Bottom line: This thing is great. It is a bit uncomfortable to use the first time, but it gets easier. If you can get a tattoo, you can easily use this thing.
What I'm glad it has: The exfoliation brush is really useful. It keeps me from getting ingrown hairs and makes my legs even smoother.
What I wish it had: It would be nice if there was a suction cup holder for the shower. If I use it in the shower, I have to turn off the water in order to put it on the floor outside the shower without flooding my bathroom.
I spent about two weeks researching epilators and reading hundreds of reviews and finally decided on the Braun Silk-epil 9. It has a big head, different attachments that are useful, and can be used wet or dry. I noticed that a lot of reviewers got it free, so I went to the BzzAgent site they reference, took some surveys, and thanks to my good karma, they sent me one to try out! Score! As soon as I got it, I scanned the instructions and held my breath as I held it up to my shin. I was worried it was going to be really painful, but it was just like a rubber band snap. It was a little uncomfortable, but not bad. As I got closer to my ankles, it hurt a little bit, but nothing too bad.
So, after successful use on my legs, I got cocky and decided to do my upper lip. I put on the other cap and brought it up to my upper lip. Oh mother of pearl! I couldn't do it. I've never waxed my lip and wasn't prepared for it. Not sure if you remember the first time you plucked your eyebrows, but it was a similar sensation. My eyes watered and I couldn't go through with it. I went online and did some research and saw that some people used lidocaine cream to numb the area. I tried that on my upper lip and bikini line and didn't feel a thing. I've been using the exfoliating brush and haven't had any ingrown hairs. I've use the epilator a few more times since and it's really not been bad at all.
One word of caution: If you have bug bites on your legs, be careful. I didn't realize that this little hair puller could also cut skin if it's swollen from a bug bite. That's why I gave it four stars instead of five.
Overall, I'm really happy with this epilator. I was completely prepared to buy it and, had I bought it instead of being awarded it, would have kept it. I have no desire to go back to shaving, razor burn, and nicks on my legs! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I think that the Braun Silk-épil 9 is doing wonders on my legs. I quickly followed the directions and tried it out. I will admit it did hurt quite a bit. But the only thing I've ever done was shave. The shorter the hair is, the less painful it is. I loved the wet/dry feature. Using it in the bathtub helped soothe the pain. I also loved the exfoliating system. Overall this is a FANTASTIC epilator. My legs are not silky smooth yet but I think I need to do a couple more trials. Overall, most of the hair is gone. Thank you Braun and thank you BzzAgent. Also to add to my comments I want to mention that this is my first time ever using an epilator and I thought it worked really well. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
